And so Vandana Mokle, her husband, and their in-laws set about poisoning the children in their village. Initially the child deaths were thought to be as the result of snake-bites. But then it was concluded that snakes wouldn't bite just children.
Five boys aged between two and four years were poisoned and killed, and the Mokles have been taken into custody by authorities. Vandana was unable to conceive for 12 years, and in desperation consulted a tantrik, a type of mystical practitioner/adviser.
